Още от средата на XIX век, когато учените осъзнават, че големите кости, откривани в скали с мезозойска възраст, принадлежат на непозната група изчезнали влечуги, динозаврите пленяват човешкото въображение и стават част от популярната култура.
Съществена роля за това има палеоартът – направление в изкуството, което се занимава с научнообоснованото реконструиране на фосилни организми.
В наши дни представите на широката публика за това как са изглеждали динозаврите (и мезозойските им братовчеди) и какво е било поведението им са основани и повлияни до голяма степен на филми като “Джурасик парк” и многобройните му продължения. Доколко обаче образите на холивудските чудовища отговарят на съвременните научни данни?
Изложбата “Юрски свят: динозаврите отвъд киното” ще Ви потопи в изгубения свят на мезозойската ера, такъв какъвто го вижда палеонтологията на XXI век.
В 12 авторски картини палеохудожникът и палеонтолог Владимир Николов изобразява сцени от ежедневието на динозаврите и на други влечуги, техни съвременници, които представят живота от древното минало в цялото му разнообразие и пъстрота. Защото светът на динозаврите е повече от биещи се помежду си зверове.

Jurassic World: The dinosaurs beyond cinema
Ever since the scientists of the mid-19th Century realised that the large fossil bones found in Mesozoic rocks pertain to the then unknown group of extinct reptiles, the dinosaurs have captured the human imagination and quickly became part of popular culture. For this to happen, an important part plays the so-called “palaeoart”, i.e. the field of art dedicated to the scientifically-informed reconstruction of fossil organisms.
Nowadays, the way the public imagine the look and behaviour of dinosaurs (and their Mesozoic cousins) is largely based on and influenced by the interpretations presented in movies like “Jurassic Park” and its numerous sequels. However, how close are the images of these movie monsters to the modern scientific data?
The exhibit “Jurassic World: The Dinosaurs Beyond Cinema” invites you to step into the lost world of the Mesozoic Era as imagined by the 21st Century’s palaeontology.
In 12 original paintings, the palaeoartist and palaeontologist Vladimir Nikolov illustrates scenes from the everyday life of the dinosaurs and other Mesozoic reptiles, which shows the Earth’s ancient past in its diversity and colourfulness. In the end, the world of the dinosaurs is much more than just monsters fighting with each other.
